LOOKING FOR INTERN IN THE AUSTIN AREA!
I’m taking on one intern (for now) to help with Reign and other projects.
To be clear, this is an unpaid internship, but will gladly give college credit if you’re a student.
I’m looking for someone to come twice a week for a 5 to 6 hour session. I’m not really strict about time, as my only concern is deadlines and work getting done. I am however not looking for someone who does not show up when expected.
Duties:
Cleaning up pages, erasing, filling in blacks
Scanning, digital clean up (I will teach you)
Compiling documents and project organization.
Flatting when needed (which isn’t too often these days)
An extra pair of eyes
Etc.
What do you get out of this?
For starters, I have an open door to my interns. Ask me anything you can think of. I don’t hold back information, so this is a great opportunity to learn from someone who’s been working in comics for almost a decade. It’s a changing business with a lot of history, I can’t stress how valuable this can be if you’re serious about having a career in comics.
You’ll also be working directly beside me as I develop character designs, break down scripts, layout pages, ink and sometimes color. Also, coffee is free!
On projects worked on, credit will be given when possible. Meaning, if it’s something where my name doesn’t appear on it, then yours probably won’t either.
I will stress one last time, you don’t get a certificate or a medal for showing up and taking this internship. You learn as much as you work and ask questions. I’m a little bit of a Mr. Miyagi, so please know I won’t make you waste your time on tedious work without a higher purpose that will benefit you with your own work.
If you’re interested, or know someone that’s interested, please pass this post around. I’d like to see samples of work and just a general blurb about what specifically you’d want out of the experience. Please use the contact form on my website. http://www.paulmaybury.com
Also know that I have a dog and cat. They’re cute, but have animal fur. If you have allergies I’m sorry you’ve read this far.
